India Now fourth largest world economy! India has surpassed Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam said, India is now poised to displace Germany from the third rank in the next 2.5 to 3 years. Yesterday, briefing the media after tenth Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, he said India is now a ‘four trillion dollar’ economy as per the IMF data. He said, it’s only the United States, China, and Germany’s economies which are larger than India. The IMF in its recent report has said that India will remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy. The IMF had stated earlier this month in the World Economic Outlook report that India continues to remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy and the only country expected to clock over 6 per cent growth in the next two years. According to the IMF, India’s GDP currently stands at 4.3 trillion dollar. India’s GDP was 2.1 trillion dollar in 2015, since then, the country has mo...

"India Has Emerged As 2nd Democratic Superpower": Ex-Australian PM To NDTV India has emerged as the world's "second democratic superpower" and has the potential to "substitute for China" as a trusted part of global supply chains, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said.  Speaking exclusively to NDTV on Saturday, Mr Abbott said Prime Minister Narendra Modi "cuts a pretty big figure on the world stage" and could influence many things that are happening around the world. "When I was Prime Minister, I frequently said that India was the world's emerging democratic superpower. I now think that India under Prime Minister Modi has well and truly emerged. It is the world's second democratic superpower. I think right now we need more democratic superpowers and if there's any unpredictability in the American role, I think that it's important that India is an important bulwark of democracy, not just here in the subcon...

Indian economy has potential to surpass China in near future: Jim Rogers India is poised to become one of the most exciting investment destinations in the world and may even outperform China in the coming years, according to ace investor Jim Rogers. In an interaction with IANS, Rogers said, “I have been around the investment world for decades, and for the first time in my life, I see that the people in Delhi understand economics.” “India is rising again. I think the people in Delhi understand what needs to be done and are trying to do it. That would be wonderful for India and for the world. If India can actually open up and engage in trade with the whole world, you cannot believe how exciting the country’s future could be,” said the American investor and financial commentator. “I don’t have investments in India right now, but I really, really want to invest more in the fastest-growing economy,” he added. Rogers also noted that if the market declines and stays down for a while, “I...

India is a Superpower - Prof. Jeffrey Sachs!

Image
Professor Jeffrey Sachs is the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University. He is one of the few voices in the West known for trenchant observations on global affairs, especially the war in Ukraine and the West’s culpability in triggering this global disaster. In a recent conversation with Professor John Mearsheimer, Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, who is known for his insights into the dark side of world geopolitics, Professor Sachs was asked about India’s role in world affairs. This was in response to Professor Mersheimer’s view that India was an ally of the United States. This is what Jeffrey Sachs had to say: “I do not believe India is an ally of the United States. India is a superpower; India is not going to be an ally of the United States; India is going to have its own very distinctive interests. I happen to like India enormously and admire their policies, but the idea that India is going to ally wi...
